Dr. McCart's research interests are in the use of text mining, data mining, and natural language processing (NLP) techniques on veterans' medical records to predict the presence of a variety of conditions, such as the development of pressure ulcers in Veterans with spinal cord impairments. The practical application of this research is to develop surveillance models that would identify Veterans who may benefit from additional screenings or further care.
